I enjoyed this convo very much! Kristi, I appreciated your frankness when you shared that your first move to Jamaica was a difficult one. Often it seems that those of us still at home romanticize moving to the Caribbean or any exotic country, thinking it will solve all of our problems while perhaps forgetting that, when we arrive there, we are still ourselves and certain parts of daily life come along too. It was interesting to hear that you had a different experience when you moved back to the island a second time with a different perspective.
I LOVED your definition of Wildhood - that it can be related to work, parenting, travel or anything else because it's a call to being true to our soul and discovering more about ourselves. Thank you for this.
Alexa, as always, your warmth and genuine interest in your guest shines through in your interview. Thank you for sharing this part of Kristi with us.
Thanks for listening to it Donna! I’m always nervous about how the things I have to say will be received by an audience.
You know, when I was “in it” in Jamaica I NEVER let people know that it was a challenge or a struggle because I figured, I made that bed and needed to lie in it. I loved every minute of it but as the old saying goes, “Wherever you go, you take yourself with you.”
And about that Wildhood….I continue to search for it every single day.
"No passport required." I love that so much. That would be a fantastic business name for something!
Ooh that’s true! It truly came to me at the last minute before hitting post!
I just listened back to the whole thing and forgot half the stuff we talked about. This was such a journey. We covered a ton in this chat!
Right?? A whole journey.
